Now that we’ve spent a fair amount of time with box 1, let’s take it up the fretboard a bit into the next 4 fret region which is commonly called box 2.
Keep in mind that we’re only adding 1 single note here. All of the notes, A C D E and G, are included in box 1. These are simply a different way to finger the same notes. Because of where it sits on the neck, we gain one more note on the top, and lose one on the bottom.
But, box 2 is very important when it comes to mixing between the major and minor sounds so be sure you get it down.
Also, the mix of the 2 boxes is enough to make a career out of and play for years.

Thanks Griff 4 the email, man you have a easy format and a relaxed approach to your lessons,i am a 50s/60s style player and i am taking the hard task of tring to play lead guitar in our band, with your tips and helpful video’s, i hopefully will improve my skills,i am adapting the scales you discuss in your blues guitar video’s to the gerne we play.thanks again Griff.happy days. Bill.
never got blues box 1 ,im interested
Griff,
Mike from Australia here…
Really appreciated these lessons as it is starting to put the scales together where I was getting bored with my playing as everything was sounding too much the same using the various Pentatonic scales in the different keys. This was my problem and not a problem from the lessons as I was trying to get very proficient with the basic pentatonic scales first.
Cheers,
Mike
Dear Griff, I am not your typical student, I am a 52 year old woman who loves guitar. Always an acoustic player, this is my first time on an electric.
I was diagosed with terminal lung cancer about a year ago. Two years before that I had my lower left lung removed, but even the chemo and radiation hasn\’t stopped the cancer which is now in my right lung and inoperable. So being stuck in my cute and cozy apartment I became determined to play lead, blues and your on-line lessons have just been awesome for me. I practice for about 2 hours a day. I feel happy and well, just better, like I\’ve really accomplished something. I live on disablity, would you even consider giving me your dvd\’s?? It would mean the world to me to learn. I have so many questions about learning the notes on the frets, just making all I have learned from you on-line come together. Please consider it, please. Thank you. Jennifer
I enjoy your lessons. I have an old 67 ricky that my uncle gave me and it sounds graet when played right. Thanks for making these lessons available.

awesome lesson , ill be a blues god soon lol
Guys… don’t expect Griff to put all the lessons on here for free – this is where he promotes his product… that he sells. It’s his livelihood. He’s very generous with the amount of stuff he gives away for free. But… don’t get greedy.
Hi Griff;
Although I have been playing for many years I still enjoy going over the basics that you teach. It\’s great to see how another musician plays certain chords and scales even though I\’m familiar with them. Sometimes you pick up better fingering techniques that you just haven\’t thought about before. Anyway, after a very long time of not playing guitar I got back into it about 6 months ago when my nephew showed an interest in guitar playing. I have been showing him things that I know and things that you have been showing as well. It\’s amazing how much he has picked up so far. As for me I\’m trying to do something I never thought I could before. I\’m trying to learn some lead work by the late great Jimi Hendrix and also Eric Clapton by listening to recordings and downloading tableture from the internet. Currently working on \"All Along the Watchtower\" and really surprising myself. It\’s not easy, takes time, but I\’m really fulfilling a dream of mine. Thanks to you for helping to keep me inspired and refreshing me with the blues basics. Keep up the great work! You have a great gift for teaching in a very easy going manner. Patience and repitition are the keys to success!! John
love your lessons . will be placing an order soon.

Hey Griff,
In your Tab example 19-1 for Box 2…is it correct?
Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like some stuff is incorrect between the Fretboard Diagram and the Number Tab.
Thanks for the Lessons
Hi Gruff, I’ve been playing for about 50 years now and have had to adjust my style of play due to nerve/tendon damage in both hands. I was playing around with modal scales and some eastern (sitar) scales. Never could play blues too well because of the damage to my hands/wrists. However, your e-mail with the four note blues lead has given me a new direction. I am sorry, I can’t quite afford your DVD’s right now, but will ASAP. Thank you, and I keep voting for you. Good luck my man.

Box 1? I guess I missed that one somehow. I sure would like to get it if you could resend it. The lessons are great though, only I’m really a newbie and it will take me a little longer to put it all together.

I have resisted purchasing the BluesGuitar Unleashed package at $137 as I am a left handed player and now there is a further ‘offer’ of Beginers Blues Guitar at $67. Either package should have drawn me in but I have reservations being a ‘lefty’. I telephoned this morning to enquire whether or not the Beginers Blues Guitar pack (or indeed the fuller pack for that matter made provision for ‘lefty’s’). Your ‘colleague’ took my details and suggested you would be approached and (generally) get back fairly soon thereafter. I appreciate that is not the case in business and have therefore ‘missed ou’ t on taking up either offer. I can see that many people have benefited from purchasing the Blues Guitar Unleashed and would like to be one but would like assurance as a ‘lefty’ that it would be relevant or not before proceeding. I have enjoyed your emails for some months now and hope to continue to do so. Kind regards, keep up the fine work for all the right handed players out there at least.
hi griff love your stuff awsome but i cant recall getting blues box 1 would be awsome if i could get hold of it cheers griff n keep the blues alive n i will do my bit for us aussie blues lovers regards rooster nsw australia
GRIFF IM 54 YEARS OLD AND BEEN PLAYING MUSIC OFF AND ON FOR YEARS. NOW THAT ALL MY KIDS ARE GROWN I STARTED BACK PLAYING.I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GOOD LICKS YOU HAVE SHOWN ME .I LOVE THE BLUES ALL MY LIFE AND YOU BROUGHT THAT ALL BACK TO ME. THANKS AGAIN.AND NOW I CAN KEEP UP WITH THE BEST.
Griff,
I’m a soldier currently stationed in Afghanistan and love watching your videos. They have a helped out a great deal. Can I ask a favor? When you talk about the fingering for something new, can you mention sometimes which frets you are hitting? This would help us new players out a bunch.
The video doesn’t zoom in enough, and sadly, because of network restrictions, none of the computers here that can see these videos can connect to the network, so it’s a pain in the ass to print the stuff out.
Other than that, your stuff is great and definitely makes me want to play more…thanks!
Mike
