Hope I don't lose any face with this one (I guess I haven't been on the forum long enough to have any face value yet). My 4 year old daughter has a book that I put to some simple blues for her.... it's my first stab at it and she absolutely loves it and sings with me.
I only strum strings 3,4,5 & 6 or 4, 5 & 6 for the chords.

No more monkeys are to be jumping on the be ed!!!
Now from here I have yet to figure a good turnaround into the next verse which is just 4 little monkeys counting each verse down to 1. I don't mind suggestions for the turnaround.
roozy, I use to sing that song with my oldest daughter some 22 years ago and she loved it. I wasn't into blues back then but I'm sure to the casual listener I sounded like I was in some kinda pain.

So, do you have verses for the next 4 monkeys?
Woke up this mornin,
Lord was I feelin low, :'(
Ah said, Woke up this mornin'
Man was I feelin low, :'(
Looked out ma winda,
All I could see was snow
Yea, it's repetitive counting down to 1. That's why I need a good turnaround here. And I'm also not skilled at improvisation or composition. Hoping to improve those areas as well.
After the line:
"No more monkeys are to be jumping on the be ed"
I've been trying to fit lyrics something like:
"I got the bluuuuuuessssss...
The monkey jumping on the bed blues"
But the licks I kinda play don't seem to fit it real well and I keep thinking something could be added/changed on those last lyrics.
Obviously, this isn't going anywhere except for my daughters entertainment, but I still want it to sound good.
Next verse to #87
Woke up this mornin'
fell down on my knees
Well I woke up this mornin'
fell down on my knees
Prayed to the good Lord
Please don't let me freeze
Below zero temps (or 32F) and the central heating has decided to go on holiday :-[

4 bars for the turnaround?
I got the monkey blues
They won't do what I said
Those gosh darn monkeys
Won't stay offa my bed
I loved the Blues description!
signed Chunky Chuck Chesterfield!
Ain't got no hair
Ain't got no teeth
Look in the mirror
And I swear I saw Keef.
Fall down, look around
Where the hell's my cane
Stand up in lots of pain
Turn round and do it again.
Therapy's on Thursday,
I hate the women they say,
The heck with them, them
Wimmin's ain't normal anyway.
